Rescue details70 acre sanctuary in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty run by volunteers. over 100 equines under its care and 500 members in the Friends group. Tack shop on site stocked largely by donated items that help raise funds. Three Newsletters annually and two big Open Days, otherwise visitors by arrangement. Volunteers Field Officers mainly in the SE UK. Rasffle prizes, bric-a-brac & saleable items always wanted. This Charity has functioned for over 30 years and is at the forefront of preventing equine abuse & their rehabilitation. Suitable equines are retrained for persons with disabilities. There is a registration scheme for applying for an equine on loan & similarly a registration is required for equines applying to be entered into the sanctuary or to be put on loan. Many of the equines belonging to the Charity are on loan to foster homes under contract. Equines belonging to the Charity remain the property of the Charity for the rest of their lives. The farm is under the Countryside Stewardship Scheme with one of the highest numbers of flora & fauna species foer any Wealden Meadow farm. Groups and individuals are welcome to come and enjoy the facilities by arrangement. Talks with slides are given on site and to many local community groups. The windmill on site is the first wind generator in the UK to be built in the style of a traditional smock mill.
